Gerardo is a nice and friendly kid, he is just six years old and comes from Maracaibo, the second largest city of Venezuela.
After a long journey, he arrived in Italy with his mother on January, 30th 2017, as to be submitted to medical treatments and later to a bone marrow transplant.
Like all the children, Gerardo loves playing videogames; he does not like vegetables, and goes crazy for his favorite dish: chicken and french fries.
Gerardo is facing a rare disease: the Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, a malignant and progressive form of cancer, discovered four years ago.
He is currenlty being treated in the Hospital Bambino Gesù based in Rome, where he began his therapy awaiting the transplant, while the research keeps going on to find a 100% compatible donor in the International Donor Bone Marrow Registry.
We keep facing this challenge side by side, together with his family and the doctors who are taking care of him through this long journey.
Go Gerardo, we're all with you!
